Two-Day Workshop

Gas Reduction Firing

Dive into the fascinating world of gas reduction firing in this two-day workshop at Adamah! You’ll learn how to manipulate oxygen levels in a gas kiln to create rich, dynamic surface effects and unique glaze colors that can’t be achieved through oxidation firing.

The workshop will cover kiln preparation, reduction techniques, firing schedules, and strategies for achieving consistent and striking results. Participants are encouraged to bring 20-30 bisque-fired pieces to explore the interplay between glaze, clay, and reduction atmosphere. You’ll have hands-on opportunities to load the kiln, monitor the firing, and witness the transformation of your work as the reduction atmosphere interacts with your glazes.

Join us for an immersive, technique-driven experience that balances precision with creative experimentation. All basic materials are provided; bisque firing is included, and you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of how to harness the gas reduction process to enhance your ceramic work.

Materials to Bring: Please bring 20–30 bisque-fired pieces to glaze and fire.
