Ceramic Furniture Masterclass

Join us for an immersive workshop where participants will create their very own piece of ceramic furniture—choose from a chair, stool, or side table. Under the guidance of Austin, you will explore advanced coil and slab-building techniques, focusing on moisture control and effective attachment methods. Learn when and how to incorporate internal supports to ensure optimal weight distribution for your design. You will gain experience in enclosing forms, constructing shrink slabs, and managing the drying process. Austin will provide insights on how to safely move and fire your finished works, as well as various techniques for repairing cracks

Workshop FAQs

How long do the pieces take to dry?
Pieces made in the workshop typically take 3-4 weeks to dry. Austin will provide each studio his drying cycle.

What is the firing cycle for the large works?
Austin has a detailed firing cycle which he will provide to each studio, you can also see it on his website. To find the firing cycle visit www.austincoudriet.com, click on the service tab -> free handouts -> firing program handout.

Will Adamah fire the work made during the week?
No – firing is not included with this workshop. You can rent an Adamah kiln depending on size and availability.

Does the studio offer assitance with shipping work?
We are sorry, but we cannot accommodate shipping assistance at this time.

What is Adamah's cancellation policy?
We understand that plans can change, but when you register, Adamah makes significant investments in preparing for your participation. Cancellations made at least 60 days before the workshop start date will receive a full refund minus a $50 cancellation fee. Cancellations made within 60 days of the start date are nonrefundable. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to adamah@bethelhorizons.org. If Adamah must cancel a workshop due to low enrollment, instructor illness, or unforeseen circumstances, you’ll be notified 30 days in advance and offered a full refund or the option to transfer to another workshop (based on availability). Please note that Adamah cannot be responsible for nonrefundable travel or lodging expenses.

Is there Wi-Fi at the studios and lodging facilities?
Wi-Fi is available in the retreat center, multi-purpose studio, and ceramics studio.

Are the studios and lodging facilities air conditioned?
Yes, there is air conditioning in each room and new air conditioning in our ceramics and multi-purpose studio!

Are pets allowed?
We love pets, but unfortunately, we can’t accommodate them in the studios or lodging.

Do you offer scholarships or financial assistance?
We offer work-study options and scholarships for select workshops. Details are available on our website or by contacting us. You need to be accepted to the work-study or scholarship program before registering for a workshop.
